The department of EEE is one of the major departments in Sonargaon University (SU). The department was established during the inception of the institution in 2013. The primary objective of the department is to impart quality education, and facilitate training and research activities in various areas of Electrical, Electronics, and Communication Engineering with broad emphasis on the design aspects of power and electronic systems. To meet the increasing demand of the 21st century, the curriculum is regularly updated to prepare the graduates with the skills required in the growing industry of power and digital communication sectors. The department is currently under the process of acquiring IEB accreditation and is going to open the IEEE student branch for furthering the research culture prevalent in the institution.

In the undergraduate program, the department of EEE offers courses in three major areas: power, electronics, and telecommunication engineering. The department have competent and skilled faculty members who have expertise in different fields of electrical and electronic engineering ranging from Power Systems to Electronics to VLSI technology. For Practical understanding, the department of EEE provides laboratory facilities well-equipped with modern equipments and training kits. In addition to academic affairs, the department regularly arranges workshops, seminars and project showcasing to encourage the students for extracurricular activities and prepare the graduates for the competitive job industry.
